The Tustin Police Department reported that officers were called to a residential community in Orange County at about 9:36 p.m. Saturday for a possible robbery.
When they arrived, they found that the victim was a Secret Service agent whose bag had been stolen at gunpoint. During the robbery, the agent fired a gun, though it's unclear if any suspects were injured.
The robbery happened on the same night that Biden was attending a star-studded fundraiser in downtown Los Angeles with celebrities like George Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Barbra Streisand. The event raised at least $28 million for the Biden campaign.
It was not immediately clear if the agent was in California to protect Biden or Obama. The Tustin Police Department did not identify the agent and did not immediately respond to requests for more information.

Authorities have not determined how many suspects were involved or if they were injured during the shooting. However, some of the agent’s belongings were found in the area.
Law enforcement officials are asking for the public’s help to find the suspects. The Tustin Police Department released a photo of what they believe is a 2004-2006 silver Infiniti FX35 or a similar vehicle seen leaving the scene.
U.S. Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said the agent was returning from a work assignment when the robbery occurred and confirmed that the agent fired his service weapon during the encounter. "We are thankful that the employee did not sustain any injuries," Guglielmi added.

Headlined by Obama, George Clooney, and Julia Roberts, the event attracted thousands of Biden supporters. Tickets ranged from $250 for seats far from the stage to $500,000 for a package that included prime seating, photos with both presidents and access to a VIP after-party. This event is likely one of the president’s final major fundraisers in L.A. before the November election.
