BTS member Jin recently came up with an idea to do something special with the fans to mark their 11th anniversary as a band and his discharge from military service. Thus, on June 13, Jin's hug event was the highlight of the BTS FESTA 2024.
1000 luckiest fans were selected to hug Jin. Things quickly took a turn as some fans tried forcing their way through to kiss the idol in question without his consent. Jin could visibly be seen trying to avoid this.

As videos of the incident spread around the internet, Netizens expressed their disappointment. On the 14th, two fans were reported to Seoul's Songpa Police Department for sexual assault. Following the report, they confirmed that the case is under consideration on whether it requires a full investigation.
Apart from the fan behavior, the event was criticized for poor safety management. Fans were exposed to heat without enough shade or water, leading to many falling ill. Approximately 50 fans suffered from overheating, and one needed an ambulance. Despite assurances from HYBE, the event's management company, about safety measures, the actual conditions were not satisfactory.
Critics highlighted the lack of planning and execution regarding fan safety. There was also criticism of the inappropriate behavior of some fans, highlighting a deeper issue in fan culture that needs to be addressed.
